Thick Flat Seam Reduces Flexibility

Difficult to keep flat when rolling up the solar blanket, due to the thick flat seam in the middle of the blanket, which reduces its flexibility. While rolling up the blanket on the reel, the middle flat seam easily bunches up. Will see if this blanket holds up. Easy to trim in order to fit to the pool's shape. Does its job to reduce heat loss, due to evaporation, when the pool is not in use. I use this solar blanket with a solar blanket reel. Its easy to roll off and roll on with the reel. The reel makes it a one person operation. Only 10 mins in each direction. Roll on in the morning and roll off the reel in the evening.

Works , it seems to keep/increase temperature by about 10 degrees compared to no-cover. I have small fountain pool connected to main pool, covering the main pool alone shows difference of about 10degrees between them.

Quality product as described

It was a 4 b/c we didn’t use it, I felt like it was a five. We purchased it for a beach house pool we were renting for a month. The material was thick and large bubbles, the cold weather that didn’t get above freezing for several days around Christmas 2022 and New Year’s wouldn’t have helped keep it warm enough. We were hoping for lows in the 40’s not 15-19 degrees multiple nights with highs at/below freezing. Pool was heated but the heat was turned off at those low temperatures. We did get to swim some but towards the end when the heater was on. The bamboo garden blocked the low sun. I would buy it again, and It was a good product with easy return but it also never came out of the box.

Good for 2 seasons in Texas

I have a small 10x20' pool so I bought a large enough cover to cut into 4ths in expectation that the Texas sun would cause them to deteriorate pretty quickly. I used the first piece for the last 2 summers and only now is it starting to release plastic bits into my pool. I consider 8 summers for a single large piece to be a great deal, though obviously that won't be an option for larger or irregularly shaped pools. As for the cover itself, it's reasonably heavy plastic and is effective at warming the pool - I'd say about 5-10 degrees. It is a bit of a pain to add/remove but I roll it up on a pvc pipe with metal conduit inside for strength and it's fairly quick. An actual hand crank reel would be nicer but would take up too much space on my deck. Anyway, a decent product but it will need replacing before long.

Most effective blanket we've tried.

I don't know if it's this particular model, or because it's a clear blanket (our first time using a clear one), but this is very effective at heating up our pool - more so than any others we have tried. We are in south Florida, and it's my understanding that at least in this part of the country the strong daytime sun combined with the clear material is the optimal combination. Supposedly these blankets lose heat more at night, but our nights here are quite toasty so that hasn't been an issue and is more than offset by the daytime gain. We haven't had this a year yet and I suspect it will start to disintegrate right around then. I don't believe there's a solar blanket out there that won't deteriorate quickly. Don't pay attention to any manufacturer "guarantee" or "warranty" because those only apply to the seams. Typically the bubbles (not covered) will start to fall apart long before the seams wear out.

Gamechanger... and answers to 7 questions I had

Here are 7 questions I had - (Q1) Will this actually work - i.e., will it raise the temperature of the pool by 10+ degree? (A1) Yes. :-) 10-15 degrees on most days. It is a gamechanger. (Q2) I have an oddly sized pool. Does that make it challenging? (A2) No - just get a decent size and you can cut it. If you are looking for perfect optimization, you can try and cut it to the pool's shape. My sense is that aiming to cover 80%+ of your pool will do the job. (Q3) Is it easy to cut? (A3) Yes - like cutting chart paper. (Q4) Will it be too heavy to fold / will I need to buy a reel? (A4) You might need to cut it into smaller pieces. While I'm sure a reel will help, we're doing just fine without a reel. We just spend an extra 5 mins on either side to take it off the pool and then put it back. (Q5) Is it better than alternatives like sun rings? (A5) It is a no contest. This is a gamechanger... and cheaper too. (Q6) Will it prevent the pool to be cleaned? (A6) Pool robots will work just fine under it. Your pool cleaner service may require you to take it out. (Q7) Is it worth the price? / will it last? (A7) Reviews I read seem to point to this lasting 2-3 years. I can't speak to that as we only bought it a month ago. My sense is that the cost savings from (a) not/minimally running a gas heater and (b) not losing water due to evaporation will make this net positive within 3-4 months. Hope it helps!

Time will tell

Quite stiff as a solar blanket. Let's hope it means a long life. Bought a different unit last year that had a limited 3 year guarantee. It totaly disintegrated after 3 months in the pool this summer. Would have cost more to send for a replacement than the blanket was worth so I bought this unit. Let's see if it's still around next summer. Looks great up to now.

TOO HEAVY to work right

This cover is simply too heavy. The air bubbles are the same as the lighter covers but the heavy 14 mil plastic tends to get too much water on top. This water evaporates and defeats half the reason to have a cover. It is also a real problem to handle. I strongly suggest getting a lighter cover... ( like I had last year ) . Also the thicker the plastic the less solar radiation penetrates to the water.

Product has very limited life span, also should have ordered the 20 foot wide cover ...

Great product should have ordered the 20 foot wide cover had to use a piece of the cut side to cover my 18 x 32 irregular pool.....don't forget to include the length ot the stairs when purchasing. Long term review only lasted 3 summers then started to rip at seams. Also air bubbles are deteriorating and clog up filter I thought it would have lasted more than 3 seasons . I Also took the time to store it away In winter in my cabana. Just disappointed that we now will have to purchase a new one to keep our pool water warm this coming summer

Not as described.

I ordered this pool solar blanket for my 12 x 24 inground pool. Unfortunately, when I unpacked it and installed on the pool it was too short. It was advertised as 12 X 24 but when I measured it, it measured 12 X 21 1/2. Consequently it does not cover the entire surface of the pool. Not impressed !!! I have had a pool for 15 years and replace the solar blanket every 2 - 3 years. I have never had this issue with any of the others I have purchased at the pool stores. I thought I would save a few dollars purchasing through Amazon but ended up with a product that is not as described in the ad. DON'T BUY !!!!

Disappointing

This cover is disappointing compared to our old cover. It doesn't float as well and doesn't seem as thick. It gets water on top which makes it very heavy to pull off. More importantly, even though it should have been the same size as our old one (20 by 40) this one does not completely cover the water to the edges of our irregular shaped pool. So we wonder if it's actually smaller but now that we've shaped it it's too late to measure. Probably wouldn't buy again.
