Well made and good cooking dutch oven

Nice and heave gauge cast iron, excellent for long cooking. The prior Dutch ovens we have used have the usual ceramic coating. This has a different coating, it is not shiny and has some texture on the inside. Looks great, a little hard to clean. Otherwise worked perfectly.

Heavy!!!

Even the lid is super heavy so this wouldn’t be good for people who have a hard time lifting heavy things. It is very good quality. However, where the brim of the pot is there is some blue paint missing. Maybe quality control missed this one. It was extremely well packed.

Good looking and a great performer

6.5 quart cast iron Dutch oven by Rachael Ray. Delivers performance and durability with a nice outer red coating and a pre-seasoned, easy-to-clean interior. Rust-resistant and good with temperatures up to 500 degrees. Its "nitro heat treatment" seals surfaces for a cast iron baker for items like bread and more. Very pleased with the look and performance of this cookware. Only negative for me is that it's made in China.

Heavy & Durable

I haven't yet gotten to use this with enough cooking to fully rate all aspects, but for now I can say that it is a well-made dutch oven. The blue color is a nice neutral shade and matches the pictures. A few things to note - first, this is a nice, large capacity pot! You could fit an entire chicken or ham in it easily as a roaster or have enough room to make a chili or soup for at least a dozen people. Due to the shape I'd say it's better suited for the oven than stovetop. The inside is more of a true cast-iron than a ceramic coated surface so it will likely need to be seasoned on occasion, and not be left sitting in water for long periods of time. I haven't experienced any negatives or issues with the pot so far!

Very nice and well-made Dutch oven from a brand you can trust. Lasagna sauce, here I come.

I love to make lasagna and I need a large dutch oven to make the sauce. The dutch oven, from Rachel Ray, is just perfect. It is super well-made, very durable, and looks great. The pot is a lovely shade of blue and it looks fantastic on my stove. It heats evenly and cleans up easily. There isn't anything about it that I don't like. 5 stars.

Heavy Duty and does a great job!

First thing you need to know - this dutch oven is 17 pounds by itself with nothing in it. I recently cooked a 9 pound bone-in spiral ham with this in the oven. It did a great job! When I say this is heavy duty...I mean heavy duty! With the ham in, when I put it on the rack, you could see the rack bend a little under the weight. No damage done, but you definitely want to be careful not to drop this on anything as it could damage it. Even the lid has a nice weight to it. The ham cooked beautifully and was moist. I am so excited to get this because I see lots of recipes for a dutch oven and wasn't sure if I'd like this. It is easy to clean...I am probably going to hand wash it just because I feel like even though things say they are dishwasher safe...I don't want to take the chances. What I liked the most is that it is done in a way that you don't have to preseason it in anyway prior to using. It also warns you about discoloration with high heat, etc. but assures you that it doesn't take away from it doing the job still. I appreciate that information. I think this is well built, solid, and worthy of 5 stars! Just know that you will have to be able to lift it or put it down in the oven so make sure you aren't limited in your weight capacity for lifting, bending, etc.

Stunning and Functional

I've always wanted a red dutch oven, and now I have one. it's beautiful. So beautiful that I leave it on the cooktop where everyone can see it. The main downside is that it's VERY heavy. I can barely lift it empty. But it cooks well and is easy to clean. I'm pleased with it. It arrived triple packaged in a sturdy box, interlaced with Styrofoam, so no chance of chipping. It's pre-seasoned, so it cooks like cast iron without the nuisance. I really love it.

High quality and versatile

I’ve always wanted a cast iron pan that you could use on a cooktop and put in the oven, but I didn’t want the hassle of seasoning and caring for it. This pre-seasoned and rust-resistant Dutch oven solves these problems. It is of high quality, looks great on the table, and can be used to make many different kinds of dishes.. It’s easy to use and easy to clean. Its large capacity makes it possible either to cook for a crowd or make enough for several meals. The few recipes I’ve made so far have come out tasting wonderful. The only downside of its size is that it is quite heavy to lift, but overall I’m very pleased I ordered it.
