Many cards

I bought this because my parents really like the original scategories but my dad couldn’t win. This was better for him. There are a TON of cards for play through compared to the original. The pads you write were clearly made post cost cuts they were just paper glued together no cardboard to make the pack useable to write on.

Fun group game

Enjoyed by whole family - teens to older adults. It’s a favorite game because it’s easy and fun and doesn’t take too long to play.

Can Play and Still Social Distance

Being high risk for COVID-19 we only allow visitors that stay outside on our patio, while we stay at least 6 ft back inside. I was trying to think of games that could be played from a distance. This game worked perfectly! The group age is 12+. I printed enlarged game sheets and laminated them and they and the dry erase pens can easily be wiped down with sanitizer after each use. It's a fun twist on the original game. Instead of having one letter for the entire round, you have one theme for the entire round starting with each letter that spells out a word or phrase. For example the phrase R O A D T R I P is written down the left side your paper. The category is Names of Cities and you fill in each of those letters with the name of a city, trying to think of unique answers so they aren't cancelled out by other players. It's sometimes surprising when you think you have something no one else will have, and someone does...or you can't think of anything other than a very obvious answer and no one else has it. My family gets competitive and we often have to vote on whether an answer is valid, so the directions could be more clear, but maybe it's the way they intended. For example things that are round "Red Ball" for R doesn't count, because it's an adjective, which could become endless. Red Round Rubber Ball...but there should be exceptions for example "Big Red" for types of gum. Either way it is a great game for playing in a group and being able to stay socially distanced. Hopefully that won't be a factor for much longer, in which case it is still a fun game to play in a group setting.

Harder than expected

This was a birthday gift for my husband. We didn't play it until over a month later. I loved it, but my husband and my mother in law both found it a little more difficult than the original.

Great twist on original game

My family loves [original] Scattegories. It can be played with just my husband and I, or with visiting extended family. It's a straight-forward, easy to learn/explain game; my daughter has been playing since age 7 or 8. I've wanted a version like this one for many years and finally discovered it exists. I was disappointed to find that it doesn't come with a writing surface (that also keeps your answers hidden) like the original. This version is not marketed as an expansion game so this seems like a fair gripe. The lack of writing service/ pencils limits where the game can be played, too. I realize this probably explains the affordability of this game, but excluding needed items for gameplay make the game feel cheap, too. Additionally, the game is still fairly easy to play; however, the directions are not nearly as straightforward as the original. My family and I decided to modify rules to what makes sense for us, but we typically like to know the real rules before deviating.

Bit Disappointing

Was a bit disappointed with this game. We all as a family love the original Scattergories game and I though this would be the same but we were a bit let down with this one and don't enjoy it as much as the original.

5 stars because the game is wonderful. I already owned this game and ordered it for my niece who also loved it. Slightly disappointed because it was the small version with only 2 decks compared to the previous game I ordered which had 6

A lot of fun!

I like the original Scattegories, but this game is slightly easier to use and is just as much fun. Two can play as well, which is a plus for us, as we are always looking for games that are adaptable for two. They have eliminated the horrible and stressful timer included in the Scattegories game....a big plus! We really enjoy this and will play it a lot!

Played this at my parents' house and knew I had to have it. Arrived quickly and makes for a great night of fun, whether you have just two people or more!
