Not Smart as-is

I knew going in that an extra purchase would be required to make this lock a HomeKit compatible smart lock, but I didn’t realize the lock essentially has zero smart features without an extra purchase. There is zero connectivity with anything (including their app) without springing more money. A lot more money. In order to take it from mediocre dumb lock to home kit lock, the price would have doubled as you need the module inserted into the unit AND a hub for EACh lock you plan to add to your setup. Not one hub for them to share, one hub for every lock. At the end of the day it was just way too much money for a lock that didn’t perform very well at its most basic function. The install didn’t go well either. There were constant misalignments that prevented it from working correctly. I assumed it was user error until I replaced this unit with a similar unit from another brand and it installed in about 15 minutes. Not sure if I just had an outlier experience, but I plan to look to other brands before Yale if I decide to go the smart lock route in the future.

This lock sometimes won't except codes

We use this lock in a short term rental apartment with software that manages the locks remotely I had a hard time installing this lock and including it on my Z Wave network. Seemed to work fine for a couple of weeks then it started randomly rejecting legitimate codes for a period of time and then it would be fine again. Tried working with Yale support a couple of times, did a factory reset, and did not solve problem. I am now trying to get them to replace the lock but I think I may just be out the $175 and get a Kwickset instead
