Thermal Relief Valve
There are several thermal valves listed on Amazon. I was looking for one that had a 3/8 male NPT end. The 200 max. pressure and 140 temp. was also given and fits the description of what I needed. There was one listed as a Briggs & Stratton part number 208673GS with no thread type indicated nor any other descriptions. The price was several dollars cheaper than the others. I did some Googling and came across this 208673GS ad stating it was indeed a 3/8NPT male end. GREAT!!! Well, I went back to Amazon and ordered the Briggs part. Saved several dollars. Now I have the part which came in today and it DOES NOT have 3/8NPT threads, instead they are 1/4NPT threads--so now we know what the thread size is for this Briggs part. Now all is not lost, because I will go to the hardware store and invest in a 3/8nptx1/4npt pipe bushing. This will allow me to screw the bushing into the pressure washer and then screw the valve into the bushing. The thermal valve is the same as my old except for the threads so this should work fine. I hope this will help if you are looking for a new valve and undecided what to do.There are the Oregon brands that have all three sizes with the thread specs and pressure with temp range.They cost more.I'm guessing my Briggs will do the job as well as the Oregon and save me several dollars.
