I ordered these for summer wear- Only took one day to get comfy with them. I order Z2 CLOUD because cloud has an extra comfort layer, probably why they needed no break-in. With heavier socks will probably wear in winter indoors and short trips to the store. There are some cons, but the Pros win the day, so I didn't subtract a star. I spent an hour looking for 11 Wide. They are as rare as hen's teeth, and only available in all black. Even at Chaco.com I could only find one pair of 11 Wide - all Black. These size 11's just fit; i.e. looking down at my feet you can barely make out a sliver of shoe under the sides of my flat, arch-less, 4E, Duck-shaped foot. Toe to heel, a little extra. Walking in them I don't feel any overlap, and, as I said, they feel fine to walk in. My big toes overlap the second toe a little, (Bunions), so I wear toe strap Sandals to separate out the big toes. I cut my socks to make a toe slit and then sew them to make my own Tabi Socks. I could only find one seller that carries crew-sized Tabi stretch socks that will fit up to men's size12. Most Tabi Socks you purchase are flimsy, no heel, fits below the ankle, cheap, stretchy, size 8 women's—useless! so I make my own out of good pairs of large-sized comfy, men's socks. The lack of an adjustable heel strap (a velcro strip would do), for me... well let's say... 1/3rd a star. The heel strap is unmovable, you get what you get, but if the rest is adjusted properly, the heel piece is not that significant and will do it's job. The adjustable strap is one long single piece that is cleverly sandwiched between the two layers of bottom sole piece and thick upper piece. A little instruction sheet comes with, giving the proper pull sequences to get it all right. Once you do it a few times it's no big deal. In effect, it's infinitely adjustable except for the back piece that goes around back of the heel. By pulling out (loosen) or pull the other way to close, you can get every part of the shoe strap to fit perfectly; snug, but not too tight. With the two parts of the strap that criss-cross over the top of the foot adjusted properly, it's a good fit with absolutely no flip-flop, akin to a pair of lace-up shoes. I advise that you take a few extra seconds to properly fit the straps when putting these on. In a short time you will come to appreciate how practical is the way the strapping is designed. The soles of the shoes, as can be seen in the photos, are a cleat-like tread pattern. Very grippy. Good for walking in Creek beds, suitable for trail walking, rocky terrain to some extent. Good grip in wet weather. Most I ever do is work outside the house and do the weekly grocery shopping. Comfortable, well worth the price.
