We liked it so much we bought a second one.
I've used one of these in my chiropractic treatment room all through covid and it worked great. My family recently had a bout of flu that set us back so we got one of these for the "sick" bedroom to help sanitize the air and keep virus' under control to prevent infecting the entire house. Seemed to work well.

A filter of the HEPA variety - Looks pretty radical!
So far this air filter has done well to perform its job. I am using it continually in a 15'x10' bedroom with a single window which opens to a busy street. The dust levels are wholly unmanageable due to the road. I cleaned thoroughly and have been running this filter 24/7 since it arrived. The noise levels are as expected. Low is a whisper, even at night when I want quiet to sleep. Medium is low level white noise which helps cover up city noise. High is a fairly loud fan. The unit is shorter than the images make you think. I actually ended up putting it on my desk in the corner. If you need a better image in your mind, check out the specifications. They include the dimensions. Just be warned that the picture shown is a low angle macro shot which totally messes up the perspective. It is smaller than you think from the picture. The charcoal filter in the back is already clearly dirty. The HEPA filter is not yet visibly tainted. In my grossly dusty location, I expect this filter to last perhaps a month or two at a time. I am in San Diego surrounded by dust, brake residue, smog, cigarette smoke, humid moldy air, endless pollen, endless everything... I sweep up a dustpan worth of crap off my hardwood floors twice a day, every day. I am sure that this will help, but I bet it would help more to simply hermetically seal my entire house. Final thoughts. This does UV, which will only be useful if the airflow is very low. Generally UV sterilization is done for 15 min (I work in a lab and am a scientist), this means that a uv light trying to sterilize passing air is a waste of time. But maybe, just maybe, the uv lamp is helpful on the low airflow setting. This filter does NOT produce any kind of ionization. Don't buy snake oil, and don't buy ionizers. They produce ozone which is a known surface disinfectant, including the single cell layer of the inside of your lungs. You want those cells in your lungs to die? Well that's what happens when you breath ozone! That's why we keep it way up high in the atmosphere and not down here in the breathin' air. Ozone generators will make your asthma/copd/emphysema much worse. As an FYI to anyone interested. I am severely asthmatic, that's why I have this. The filter seems to help reduce symptoms, but I am forced to run the AC to keep the room cool and not let more dust in through the windows. Without the windows, the room heats up to 100+degrees even at night. None of which is the fault of the filter... this has just been an anecdote. If you want to reduce your severe asthma, move to a foggy costal area with temperatures between 45F and 70F. That's that kept me alive most of my life. This advice also has nothing to do with the filter... it too has just been an anecdote.

Worth the couple extra bucks
I live in a basment thats can be very cold and damp during the winter and hot, humid and stuffy in the summer, I do have windows but because the house in located in the woods; opening the windows can let some very nasty spiders, ants and bugs in. To keep it cool in the summer, i do have an ac which keeps it cool but also rather moist. a dehumidifier solves that easily but the stuffy aroma still remains. recently, i been suffering some seasonal allergies this year since the pollen has been so bad( i'm not a normal allergy sufferer) and i found some mold growing under my floor tiles. i cleaned out the mold but i really wanted something to clean out the air and make it less stuffy, i also had the worry that the mold spores were still floating around in the air causing the majority of my stuffy room problems. But, being broke, i didnt want to buy a $300 air purifier with $50 filters that needed to be replaced every 6 months. i also didnt want a cheap purifer that couldnt get the job done. after a lot of research and thought i decided that this air purifier would be the best for my situation. after recieving it and turning it on it took about 3 days for me to really notice a difference but now that its been running on low for about 3 weeks my rooms air is fresh and clean. I have also noticed a significant decrease in dust. my worry of mold spores in the air which might cause more mold problems is gone for the most part. As for the unit itself, on the first setting the noise is almost none, the second setting sounds like a low fan and the high setting is noticable but not a big problem. the unit its self is thin enough in width but its a little longer than expected in length. also what i noticed in the instructions, you have to set it at least a foot away from a wall or objects, i personally found that to be a little difficult. overall i think its an amazing product for a low budget and the little money extra i spent went a long way. my room isnt stuffy and im having an easier time with my seasonal allergies.

Should have bought this a year ago.
I have seasonal allergies and this has been a particularly hard year for me. I wake up every morning congested. Within an hour of running this air purifier on high I noticed a huge difference in my bedroom air quality. Now that I've had it a week or so I can say that I have not taken my allergy medicine once in that time. I wake up able to breathe much more easily.

Decent for under $80
I like germ guardian because of their price and the quality. I owned a Holmes once and I can’t say I see a difference maybe in Holmes filter lasts longer and is quieter but in terms of cleaning the air this is cheaper and does the same . The filter life is about two to three months around the same time as a Holmes . Germ guardian gives where you can buy a filter liner that goes over the filter which can extend the filter life and keep odor control down even when the filter is halfway through its life the filter liner extends the filter life in my opinion so I switch the liners and get about three months out of my filter . Filter life also depends on the setting you have to use. Only thing that holmes has over this brand is it operates quieter. I don’t mind noise but to someone who does this is like a fan on low to medium speed .

Compré este purificador porque de repente en las noches se me tapaba la nariz porque vivo en una zona con mucho polvo, me ayudó bastante aparte de que elimina muchos olores y el cuarto huele diferente. Se usa en espacios pequeños como cuartos, en cuanto a nivel de sonido si produce ruido, para mi gusto es tolerable durante el día pero en la noche a la hora de dormir lo desconecto.

Great for smell and clean air
Quiet at low setting. Decently strong at high power. Perfect for medium small rooms. I use it for my 1 bedroom apartment unit and it's definitely helped reduce renovation/paint smells and cigarette smells as well.
