Really educational

This was such a great purchase! The instruction booklet inside is so informative - it explains what each ingredient is so you know what you're using and would be able to research and purchase more if you wanted to do these crafts again. It's also laminated for spills! The "animals" you can make are cute, but you have to really get the hang of it or else they'll fall apart. Overall, a great family activity with just the right amount of mess to be fun but not hard at all to clean up.

Fun fusion of science and crafts

My six year old got this as a gift and he and his older brother (aged eight) have had a lot of fun playing with it. They need a little help and supervision from me, but are able to create biopolymer "creatures" mostly by themselves. The booklet that comes with the kit has interesting comparisons to real animals for each of the pretend life stages/types of creatures it shows you how to create, which is a great jumping off point for talking about/researching topics in biology if your kids are interested. My only complaints would be that a couple of the plastic decorations are really too big to work, and we wish there was more of everything!

Fun kit that actually works

This is a pretty great kit for a kid who likes chemistry, making slime, or making up different creatures. You make up a batch of "primordial solution" (dissolve the powder in a bowl of water) and then use the "Bio Ooze" to make different sizes/shapes of creatures. You can make worms by drizzling it, eggs by dripping it, and a globe-shaped creature using a spoon. Then you can combine a few of those shapes. Once you get the idea, you can make all kinds of things. They supply plastic eyes and organs, and pom-pom hearts to further customize your creatures. There is also a lot of great information on real-life animals in the booklet provided, and two containers to save your creations.
