Actual 2 person Backpacking Tent
Although this tent might seem heavy by backpacking standards, it’s really not when you divide the trail weight between 2 people. Most backpacking tents marketed as 2 person tents, are just an oversized 1 person tent. This is an actual 2 person tent that’s capable of having 2 25”pads and large adults side by side. And it’s near vertical walls equal a very comfortable tent. The headroom is also more than adequate to stretch out in the mornings. It has an extensive vestibule that is capable of holding 2 packs and gear as well. This is a very high quality, well built tent. I would recommend this to any couple looking to get into the backcountry. For one person, this might be a little heavy. But it would be a backcountry palace for one person. The initial setup definitely requires the instructions. But after you get that first pitch, it’s a breeze. We also purchased the footprint because the tent can be pitched in “fast fly” mode with it. All in with footprint, guy lines, stakes, and the innovative roll type stuff sack, it weighs just a tad under 5 lbs on my scale. It’s also very storm worthy, as we’ve been in west Texas thunderstorms with 30+ mph winds and never had an issue with rain getting in. You can definitely find cheaper tents, but the quality won’t be nearly as good. Don’t hesitate to buy this tent.

Unique tent, lots of space
First, I've been purchased a lot of Klymit gear over the years and have been really impressed with the quality and competitive price. Their customer service has always been great, no matter what the issue. After purchasing this a couple months ago, I finally got a chance to spend a weekend with it. I was pleasantly surprised by the space and ease of set-up. It does take a bit to get used to at first because it is not a freestanding tent and the poles don't attach to the four corners like most other tents. So like all non-freestanding tents, if you don't know what that means, the corners need to be staked for the tent to assemble properly. The poles actually are a large 'H-Shape' and attach about two feet in from the corners on the sides. This creates a large dome that is lower in the back and high in the front. The tie-out points were sufficiently long and had cams to cinch the tent tight. This was appreciated since the rainfly did sag a bit when wet (like every other Sil-Nylon tent.) There is a vestibule in the rear that is only accessible inside. I didn't use that this time, but since there's only 1 entrance door; gear could be stored back there to keep the front vestibule open. I would think you could cook a full meal for 4 in the front vestibule if the weather is not good, its that big. Entering and exiting the tent was simple and the headroom was great for a ~6ft person. I fit a whole queen size air mattress with about ~30" left to spare on the one side. It seems to have a ton more floor space compared to two 2-person tents. Even with the tapered roof line, the foot of the tent still is pretty spacious and not claustrophobic at all. It was a mansion compared to my 1P Tiger Wall and 2P North Face Mica UL tents. Those both now seem like a bivy sack in livability. As far as construction, I had to re-tie some of the tie-out loops, but that wasn't a big deal. The fabric is on-par with most ultralight tents...which means they can't be abused too much. That keeps the overall weight to space at a very competitive range compared to other tents. I had one of the DAC aluminum stakes bend which isn't the tent's fault because I wasn't being careful and just stepped on it to push it in. The tent with its large front vestibule does take up a lot of ground space. The rain-fly attached very securely with the 8 (yes EIGHT) attachment points (4 poles and then the corners) which created space between the tent and fly for air movement. There were a couple more tie-outs on the fly that could be used if the weather was REALLY bad. I think there were enough and the structure was supported well enough to handle a good amount of snow load. Even though it with just myself sleeping in there this first time since my son was in his own tent during the scout camp, it will be a great backpacking tent for the three of us. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the tent.

It's a pretty great, very lightweight and so far durable tent.
Honestly this tent is great, especially at the sale price it periodically goes down to. It is literally lighter than my previous 1-person tent. The stakes it comes with are great which is rare, plenty of guy-lines already attached and coiled up at the tie-off points, no issues with ventilation or heat retention in the 3-seasons it is designed for. The rainfly, footprint, and base of the tent all clip together quite nicely and have adjustment sliders to keep them correctly tensioned. The single piece pole assembly is a little counter-intuitive, but it works great once you orient it. HOWEVER: get the footprint for it. I bring a scrap of tarp to throw under the footprints of all my tents anyways, because a sharp, half buried rock can always ruin things, but you don't need to. A significant amount of the versatility and convenience goes away without the footprint that is designed for it, like the ability to throw the footprint and rainfly together as an emergency shelter in a few moments, or use it in an ultralight configuration to save even more weight. The only potential concern i have is that with how light this material is, I don't know what long term durability will be. It is VERY light material, and that usually trades out durability. Time will tell.

Love my Maxfield 2 so far
So far I’ve used this tent on one overnight camping trip. It did rain in the early morning and the tent was absolutely dry inside. The tent is very spacious inside, there was plenty of room for me and all of my gear. There is a learning curve on setting this tent up. I feel that once you set it up at least two or three times it will get easier. If you want to use all the tents attachment points you will have to buy extra stakes. The number of stakes included is sufficient to set up this tent but will need a few more for the guy lines. Everything on this tent is thoughtfully laid out, I would definitely recommend it. I should add that I bought the footprint for it which is nice because the poles attached to it as well and allow you to use the fly as a freestanding structure for warmer weather. I guess my biggest gripe about this tent would be the weight but I still have my pack base weight right around 20 pounds with this tent and without consumables. I have my Maxfield 2 tent in a medium plus Zpacks stuff sack which fits the footprint as well. ???????????????? Up!

Awesome tent
Very well thought out tent, love how the bag turns into a door mat. Defiantly emphases on semi free standing and there’s a little learning curve to setting it up. Over all fantastic tent.
