NOT a soft close seat, but has the quick detach for easy cleaning

Great seat, but I failed to read through to see it is not the soft close version. same seat is 10.00 more and worth it. I unfortunately opened and installed before realizing my mistake. Great for cleaning and I highly recommend this STYLE of quick release, but look for the soft close version if you don't want slamming seats!

Noisy when it slams closed

So far as toilet seats go, this one is efficient. We had to change our old seat after a tragic situation resulting in my husband insisting we get a new one. This one feels thinner than the old one. It works and it’s fine. The biggest issue I have is when you go to close the lid, it slams down quickly and loudly. I am too cheap to buy another right now, but the next time I do, this is something I will pay more attention too.

Hinge area not as pictured.

The reason I only gave three stars is due to the discrepancy between the picture and actual product. The hinge area is disappointingly different, and as a result, half of the benefit of this seat style was lost. I was looking for a high quality plastic seat without the slow-close feature for three reasons. #1: One of the major purposes for the lid is to contain fine droplets during flushing, and the slow-close feature totally defeats this because it takes so long to close that most people just flush while it is still more than halfway open. PRO: THIS SEAT DOES AT LEAST CLOSE QUICKLY. #2: The hinge area in the back of the seat of many slow-close seats takes up a lot of space and makes the gap between mounting holes sort of enclosed. This is a majorly disgusting disadvantage if you have a household with young boys, or even just elementary children frequently visiting. Any "misses" toward the back of the toilet run under the hinge area and collect, trapped away from sight. Even if you teach the boys to wipe up any sprinkles right away, they can't effectively wipe what has gotten trapped underneath - and then you don't see it either to know that you need to remove the seat to clean under it right away. You really have to remove the whole seat to clean underneath every single weekly cleaning, if not more often. The picture of this seat shows that the area between mounting hinges is open, which is what I wanted. However, I was instead sent seats with the boxed in hinge area like a slow-close model (see pictures), just no slow-close hardware inside. I was very disappointed by this design change. After trying one seat, I actually returned the two of the three seats I purchased hoping that I will find another high quality seat with the hinge area open. CON: HINGE AREA NOT AS PICTURED, AND DIFFICULT TO UPKEEP CLEANLINESS BETWEEN FULL SEAT REMOVAL CLEANINGS. #3: I wanted a plastic seat because they are lighter weight than the wooden ones, and I generally find the plastic molded shapes more comfortable. I did still want it to be sturdy though, and not flex when sat upon by a ~130 lb person. This plastic is very sturdy. I can sit on the toilet seat closed, and it doesn't move or flex a bit - I can't say that for the other plastic seat I recently purchased. The seat shape is mediocre though; as other reviews state, there is a lot of slope to the actual seat which does give the feel of a thinner, sharper seat than some others. PRO: VERY HIGH QUALITY, STURDY PLASTIC. CON: MEDIOCRE SEAT SHAPE. In summary, I am still in search of a really functional basic high quality, plastic, not slow-close toilet seat.

It’s a toilet seat

It fits on the toilet. Not much else to say. If you need a seat for your toilet and it’s this size and color, this one should work for you.

Didn't come with bolts to attach to the toilet

We received the two toilet seats and neither package came with the bolts to attach it to the toilet itself. Had to reach out to Kohler customer service to expedite the bolts to attach new seats to the toilet. Why would a brand new toilet seat not come with a complete set of items to be able to attach it to the toilet. Makes no sense, especially for amount of money you have to pay for a toilet seat now-a-days. Totally disappointing!!

Great comfortable toilet seat

Excellent toilet seat. Called Kohler direct and they contacted me and told me that Amazon had the correct seat and I should order from Amazon. Very happy. since the original seat was discontinued and there are thousands of toilet seats out there

Not pure white and not soft close

I was replacing an older Kohler seat that was white, but this one looks almost ivory compared to the white Toto toilet I installed it on. My other criticism is really my fault, but I had no idea Kohler made seats that are not soft close. I should have paid more attention to the description (although when I bought it, I could have sworn it said soft-close). After waking up the whole neighborhood dropping this incredibly loud seat several times now, I am tossing it in the garbage and buying a soft-close version.
