Stylish product, average durabilty

Very nice towel bar. We bought this with the other bath pieces even though they were pricey. The style is top notch. However after one year of limited use the towel bar broke. Not the best mechanical design to hold the bar to the wall, especially one so heavy duty. To their great credit Kohler replace the bar for free within a week with only and online email complaint. This is a customer service organization. So Kudos to the customer service group and kudos to the design/style team. Perhaps a little more focus on durability even if style has to suffer some.

Like the style

Bought this to replace previous one that literally cracked at the base. It is in our children's bathroom and over 8 years did not hold up well but then again it has been banged numerous times. Like the style, sleek and modern, no fuss.

Mounting System Stinks

Last purchased Dec 4, 2012. Color: Polished Chrome Okay - it lasted nearly 10 years, that's true. And it's got a "lifetime warranty". But honestly, the mounting system for this thing is poorly designed. We fought it constantly. ALWAYS loose, no matter what. The piece that attaches to the wall is poor quality, soft metal. The design of the mount is poor - if tighter tolerance materials were used, and the set screw could be driven deep(er) into a threaded mount, and if there were a substantial "lip" for the top of the towel ring to rest against, then it MIGHT be an okay mount. So now I get to test out how "good" this lifetime warranty is. The allen head set screw that attaches the ring to the mount is stripped and I can't get it out of the fixture - at least not using the allen wrench that is the only size that I can get into the hole. But I fought this thing for years, because the allen screw would constantly get loose (not to mention the fact that the ring itself where it attaches to the head that attaches to the mount would also get loose). So I used Locktite blue - which means the set screw STAYED set and the entire system failed because of wear on the mount and/or the set screw contact point wearing. I tried to capture the wear problems on the mount. Hard to get the right angles and lighting. There are clear notches that have been cut into the cheap low quality metal of the mount, which is why the mount is no longer usable. It will no longer hold because of the notches that have been worn through the low quality steel.

Looks nice. I thought I might not like the fact that the loop doesn't swing, but I don't mind at all, and don't miss the squeaking sound. It was easy to mount and solid as a rock.

poor quality

On my third one in less than a year. Same spot, where ring connects to its base, see pictures. Bought a house with Kohler all over, everything constantly getting loose and needs re-tightening, one hook and two towel rings got completely broken. These towel rings have two bolts in them and despite having put loctite on both of them - they still getting loose and wobbly every month. And for the love of god, make those two tiny hex bolts same size instead of supplying two different keys. Bottom line: for $50+ you come to expect grohe/hansgrohe quality, but this is not hansgrohe which ever way you look at it.

Well Built

This towel ring is really well built and solid. It is larger than most towel rings and it doesn't swivel so it may not be ideal if you will have small children pulling on the towel ring.

Solid Towel Ring

Nice finish on this towel ring and good quality as are most Kohler products. Not sure if finish was light nickel than the matching toilet paper holder and the Kohler forte faucet. Only disappointment that I can live with is that it was much larger than I wanted since this was just to hold a hand towel near the sink and it is stationery. All in all, it worked out fine.
