I thought her feet were FLAT; She's wearing elevator HEELS!

This doll made my heart smile today. I was expecting her to have a more of a lighter skin tone with a yellowish undertone. I liked what I thought she was going to look like, but I'm much happier with the one I got. She's spectacular. Her hair is very long, soft and beautiful; that goes well with her tan complexion. She's wearing a beautiful houndstooth-print dress with matching blue elevator ankle boots, blue headband and yellowish earrings. She has the perfect look to go with her beauty salon. Despite the fact that I swapped her body to a mtm, I think this set is 100% durable, valuable for the money, and ready to be gifted to anyone who loves barbies. I recommend this doll to children and beyond.

A fantastic Barbie set

This is a fantastic Barbie set with lots of different accessories for the hair dressing salon. It includes the Barbie as well as salon accessories such as desks, hair accessories and lamp. My niece was delighted!

Impressed with the functionality

Ordered this for our 10 year old who is a pretty good judge of how good something is to play with as they tend get bored or frustrated with something quite quickly if it's not. They really enjoy playing with the Barbie Hair Salon set and it's been a big hit for the past couple of days. Their thoughts: "It's really good. I love playing with this because when the Barbie doll's hair is wet it actually changes colour like its supposed to. The straighters actually work, and you can put accessories in the drawer and the drawer works properly, it slides out and back in. " They were also quite impressed with the selection of accessories, especially the shoes. You get a fair bit for your money and I feel it's priced appropriately for what it is. Would make an excellent gift for any Barbie fan.

Expensive, wet.....and fun

I'll deal with the main negative point up front, Barbie merchandise is all overpriced in my opinion but you know that so whether you want to splash out for the brand is a personal choice so I'm looking primarily at the toy itself. You get one Barbie doll, a hair salon dressing table and chair with various implements including hair dryer and brush. So far nothing outstanding but where the kids will love this is the hair. The doll's hair changes colour with water, cool water changes it to have pink streak, warmer water will turn those streaks blonde to match the unstreaked hair. There is a gradient of blue in the middle so if you don't use too much warm water then the doll will have blue streaks. Kids love this, or at least my 4 & 6 year old girls do. Parents perhaps not so much as it does result in the majority of the included implements being discarded and a fair amount of water being used. Furthermore the official method of wetting the hair is using the "hair dryer" (doesn't make sense to me either, a hair dryer that wets the hair). The main problem with this is that the hair drier doesn't work well as a water delivery device, the tip comes off, you fill a small internal well and replace the top which is like a shaker/sprinkler and basically hold the dryer over the hair and shake it to sprinkle water. This method is quite ineffective and so kids will likely look for alternative methods such as filling the toy sink (which has a plug hole so doesn't retain water). So, is it any good? If you don't mind the kids having a bit of water play then yes, it will keep the kids entertained for hours but, like all Barbie merchandise, it is expensive for what you get.

Let kids be the judge

Having looked at this product when unboxing with my granddaughter this evening, my initial impressions were it's very expensive for such a small set, i knew it was barbie and that in itself demands a premium but truth be told i will not be the real judge. My granddaughter absolutely loved the set, tying the hair up, having barbie lie back with her hair in the sink and then came the hair colour change! wow the highlight of pretend play, she adores this set, it's just a shame normal parents will have to pay so much to get their hands on it. Just goes to show though, regardless how we feel as parents, or indeed grandparents it's better to pay a bit more for a product they will play with than a lot less for one that they won't.

Nice little set.

A decent enough set that is pretty sturdy and has lots of little accessories. Standard Barbie with long hair that suits the salon theme. If you're in to Barbie, you'll be delighted - at a cost!
