Too much fun!
What a great way to entertain the kiddos!! Even older children love perler beads! This kit is a bit more advanced perhaps 8-12 year olds but just as fun!

Never again...
I thought my 6 yr old would live this. He was pumped about making it. It got a little tedious, so his 8 yr old brother and 10 yr old sister volunteered to help. It was nice because it kept him busy a while...but that's where the fun ends. Mom has to iron it, I tried to let him slide the iron on, while watching him like a hawk...but the beads kept sliding off the shallow peg board so I took over. I did not press.....initially. I tried to glide it over sections in circular motions as directed and after 2/3 mins it was not doing anything. I had a dry iron, medium heat, and followed all instructions....nothing it wasn't setting. So I ended up using light pressure to help melt the beads to each other and it took forever....I was working on it probably 45 mins one side because some parts wouldn't stick and I'd have to go back over it. Sometimes the beads would slip off and you don't notice unless you constantly check under the paper, and then the beads stick to the paper and rearrange their location when you lift it up to peek to make sure they are correctly on the pegs... Ughh. Anyway he spent less time on it than I did trying to melt it together. Plus you have to flip it over and melt the other side as well. You may not be able to use the peg board for that though because the holes close up. Never used pearler beads before. Never....ever....again.....

Generic kits are better
It's a neat concept but the peg board has almost too tiny of pegs so the beads fall off really easy. The beads don't want to stay together when you iron them. I got a few kits in november from Target and those worked better for less money. I'm hoping if I get a better peg board maybe it will help resolve this but I'm really disappointed in this purchase.
