One of my favorite belts - The people talking about this loosening just don't know how to use it
I have been wearing these crewboss / V-Ring style belts for over 20 years since I was a hellirappeler for the US Forest Service. This design is absolutely the best for infinite adjustability that won't budge after you get it set. The traditional version uses a forged steel buckle with a more flexible strap and yellow dashes along the side. These "belts" were originally cargo straps before smokejumpers and other wildland firefighters started using them to keep their pants up. Belts like this one from Propper are trying to improve / imitate the original style. I have a couple of the authentic ones that I purchased years ago from paragear. They are built like tanks, but the buckle is crazy heavy and the strap isn't very stiff. I wanted something with an aluminum buckle that was a bit lighter weight and also a strap that was slightly stiffer so I ordered this one from Propper. Overall I am very pleased. The strap is definitely stiffer than other models I have (If you are familiar with Grip6 belts, this is like their mid-weight strap). It is also slightly narrower than other 1.5" webbing belts I have. The aluminum buckle is light yet sturdy and has knurling on the slider to keep things snug. Lots of other reviewers have mentioned that this belt loosens over time, but that is just because they don't know how to use it. Sure, if you want something super simple, you can just run it through the cam slider and hope it holds, but the V-Ring is designed for you to double the belt back through to secure it. Once you do that, it isn't going anywhere. The V-Ring is a bit tighter when doubling back than other similar belts I have, but after threading it a couple times, it goes in just fine. I recommend ordering a larger size that you need (I am a 36" waist and ordered the 3XL 48=50" model knowing I would cut it down.) I also cut a couple 45 degree angles into the tail to make it easier to feed through. Overall I am very pleased. Going with aluminum instead of steel means the belt doesn't pull out when you undo it and the stiffer material means it stands up better to daily wear. I will say it only has one bar stitch attaching the strap to the buckle instead of the 4-6" of X stitches you will find on the authentic cargo strap versions, but this is being used as a belt, not to secure a literal ton of material for a helicopter sling load, so I think you are okay. Very pleased with this purchase and I know this belt will get a lot of time on my waist even though I probably have 10-15 other webbing belts that I love.
