Good choice for petite women

On a recent trip I found that my rain jacket de-laminated and was no longer waterproof, so I found myself in the market for a new rain jacket. I was looking for a light rain jacket priced at less than $50 which would fit a petite build. Based on the size charts for Columbia I found that both the large kids jackets and the xs women's jackets were close to my measurements. Given the free return policy at amazon I ordered a few to compare and try on. Here are my favorites from most to least. Columbia Big Girls' Arcadia Jacket Large ($39.19 - black) This fit amazingly well and had a mesh lining which prevented the jacket from sticking to my skin. There was a snap at the top to secure the jacket. Columbia Boys Big Watertight Jacket, Large ($38.43 - blue) This jacket was also mesh lined with a snap at the top, but being a boy's jacket the cut was more boxy. I felt the girls jacket was a better fit on my body type. The arms on this jacket are longer than the arms on the xs women's switchback jacket. Columbia Women's Arcadia Ii Jacket ($54.00 - black) At $54 this was slightly over my threshold of $50. I didn't end up keeping it because the kids jackets fit better and were less expensive. This had the same lining at the girls arcadia jacket, but the top of the jacket did not have a snap near the collar like the kids jackets. Columbia Big Girls Switchback rain jacket ($30 - purple) This was the least expensive jacket and the build quality reflected just that. It lacked the mesh lining of the other jackets so it stuck to me more. While this is probably a fine choice if you want a jacket that folds down small, it did not feel good to put on and had that clammy plastic feeling. Please note that this review is posted as a comment for all of the jackets reviewed.

Daughters jacket

Fits my daughter perfect. She’s a 10-12 more like. 12 almost 14 and i got a large. She can weight a hoodie under it and it keeps her warm, but is lightweight and weather proof!
