First of all, my hair is long, wavy, color-treated, heat styled, with very dry ends that need to be trimmed off. I use decent-quality hair products that don't contain parabens and sulfates, and just assumed that this would be some over-priced shampoo and conditioner that doesn't work any better than what I usually use. To a certain degree, I was wrong. My initial thoughts when this came in were mostly positive. It smells nice, the bottle is aesthetically pleasing, but also not near full. And, ok, I realize that this is sold by weight, but it's a little off-putting when the product is an inch shy of the bottom of the neck of the bottle. That is the reason I docked a star. If I had been purchasing hair products and was going to spend the $54 price tag this set has, I would want the bottle full. Then I used the products. Like I said, they smell wonderful, like Moroccan Argan oil with a hint of ylang ylang. When I used the shampoo, it made my hair feel like everything had been stripped from it, which was not a good omen. I have just gotten my hair to feel normal again after having colored it and spent time in a place where I had to wash it in soft water, which did a number on my hair, so my hair feeling like it had been stripped was not a good thing. I rinsed it out, and still my hair felt stripped and weird. I moved onto the conditioner. Again, it smelled nice. The conditioner has a nice consistency, though it could be a little thicker. I applied to my ends and mids, with very little on my scalp. I left it on while I washed up, and when I rinsed, my hair felt so soft. The conditioner totally counteracted the way the shampoo made it feel. I wrapped my hair in a microfiber wrap, and kept it there for a good hour and a half to two hours, like I usually do. I applied my Moroccan Argan oil heat protectant, and blow-dried using my round brush dryer. I could immediately tell that my hair felt softer. Once done, I looked in the mirror and noticed that even my super-dry ends looked better. This is a great shampoo and conditioner set. Would I spend $54 for the size of the bottles that it is? Probably not.
