nice buy
I got a 6+1/2 foot tree this year, really full and heavy. The base of the tree is around 4+1/2" wide. I had absolutely no problems with this stand being able to hold up this tree. The saying is "you get what you pay for". This stand was an absolute best buy.

Nostalgic design, bright colors, water for the cats
The Jack Post/Christmas 5180 Christmas Tree Stand is an old-school design, and we like it a lot at our house. It's bright red and green, which is really festive, especially compared to the dull green plastic of other stand designs. And it reminds my wife and me of the Christmases of our childhoods. Furthermore, our cats T and Shroom love to drink tree water (weird but cute!), and this stand holds over a gallon of water in an open pan the cats can reach. Now, let's be honest. This style of stand requires ten or fifteen minutes to put your tree in it and tighten the four screws. There are newer styles of stands with automatic clamps that reduce the process to two minutes, but those cost $70-$100 on Amazon. For a nostalgic design that only cost $22 including shipping, I got a great deal, and ten minutes a year won't kill me. This new purchase replaces a very similar stand, which lasted us 20 years. Our new Jack Post/Christmas 5180 Christmas Tree Stand is bigger and heavier than the old one, so I bet the Jack Post stand will still be serving my family in 2035.

Broken 1st use
I really loved that I was getting a real, metal tree stand with this purchase. Out of the box, it looked perfect...nice, large water dish, easy to assemble, real metal throughout. However, we could barely get our tree to stand upright at all, never mind straight - until we realized that the metal spike had snapped off the bottom immediately and was instead serving to keep the tree from firmly contacting the bottom of the bowl. This makes it a bit precarious, as it relies only on the screws to stand, with no second point of contact at the base of the trunk. We managed to remove the tree from the stand entirely and remove the now-worse-than-useless spike, which helped the situation somewhat (the trunk could at least sit flush against the bottom instead of being held off of it to swing about), but it was still a lot of effort to get any stability without it.

Perfect tree stand. Highly recommend
This is exactly what I was looking for in my first real tree stand as an adult. I had planned to attach it to a sheet of plywood but it is sturdy enough not to with a 7' tree. It was tricky to get one of the jack screws started due to excess paint, but once I got it in and moving, the screw went in and out with ease. This hold tons of water for both the tree and my kitty!

Good Old Fashioned Tree Stand
THANK YOU for bringing back the old fashioned Christmas tree stand that actually holds a large tree up. After almost 15 years of looking and using plastic garbage (all we could find) that constantly broke, dumped the tree at the slightest brush, or took us hours to get set up - we found this. Held up our 8 foot tree like a rock, just like when I was kid. Assembly takes a minute or two to do because you have to hold stuff a certain way to get it together but still easy. Very happy.

the memories revived
This product brings back the memory of my deceased wife and the hunt to buy this same quality of product some 35-36 years ago and the soon to be ex wife refused to return OUR tree stand!!!!! Thank you for giving me and the kids back the memories......( there is now a tree where there was going to be none!!!

Great for now
We ordered this stand after buying three plastic ones at the local big box hardware store. This one is great! It seems much sturdier than the plastic stands I've used. It holds a good amount of water too. The test of time has not yet shown the durability of this stand yet, but it seems like it will last a few years at least. I think as long as the tree is not too large this stand would be great for most people.

Broke the first time we used it.
It's a cheap tree stand but we've had one just like it for 10 years now and last year it wasn't holding the tree trunk as well so we decided to replace it. We got a smaller tree than usual this year but even so, the new stand broke the first time we used it. The spike at the bottom of the bowl came right off and we couldn't get the tree to stay put without toppling over. Good thing we still had the old one because that's what we ended up using. Maybe just a fluke but this one wasn't made very well and we're left needing to buy another stand for next year.
