Good tool... But not what I was hoping for.

I bought this to use with Roloc bits for sanding and polishing metals and also some auto body / fiberglass work. Admittedly, I mostly use electric tools and have slowly been getting into pneumatics. I felt like this thing was pretty clumsy and inefficient. I really like Neiko tools, but this grinder was 1.) Very Loud 2.) It used a lot of air. For the amount of work it did, my compressor seemed like it would never shut off. To be clear, I paint a whole car and might hear my compressor kick on twice. 3.) There is a regulator to "feather" the throttle. It was not sensitive at all. From off to the slowest I could get it to go was crazy. It turns on hard!!! That being said, this tool definitely isn't right for any kind of precision work. But, the size and shape were nice and I suppose if you were using it to get into tighter spots just to rough stuff in and you wanted something comfortable, this could be a good choice at a good price point. For me however, it was not exact enough.

Works

I use it with tooling related to auto body work, same gearing as $300. Tool from major tool makers, all go bad after a while , you can buy a bunch of these for the price of one.

Good price on a great tool

This is one of many die grinder clones that use more or less the same design. This right angle design is brilliant for anything from surface prep to porting out cylinder heads to grinding out welds. Every shop has one, and what separates them is quality of components. Since I haven't used this air tool for more than a month, I'm withholding a star until I keep it for a year or so. This design omits a safety like most other die grinders have, but I personally hate the spring safeties most use so it's no big deal for me. One issue I have with the grinder is it consumes far more air than 4 cfm or whatever the packaging states, think more like 6-8 cfm so either have a big 240v compressor or be prepared to take breaks and let your little compressor catch up. Other die grinders I've used are the same, so don't be surprised.

Problems with my Neiko Air Grinder

I decided to keep it anyway, but from the very first use I noticed there is no control of the speed. Some of my workmates tried to use the way we do, slow, medium or fast, but this unit has only one speed: Fast. So, in order to use it, I decided to attach an airflow regulator that helps me to regulate the RPMs to the speed I need. Unit has a screw on its top that is supposed to reduce air inlet to regulate the speed, but it didn't work at all. So I have to bear with these deficiencies hoping that at least the gear system will last at least a couple of years. I hope you could pass this information to Sales Dept. so them can take an action and test these grinders in particular to find out whether mine is an isolated case. God bless you all.

Open box, missing parts, damaged with signs of misuse

Not going to even bother trying this out. Box was opened and it looks like it fell out of the van while it was in motion. Signs of misuse, missing parts, fake stickers. Going right back.

i really like this grinder!

i have owned this great grinder for about 6 months now. it has been used and abused daily in a garage enviroment. it never ceases to amaze me! always extremely powerful, as powerful as a new snap on grinder and more powerful than a few year old snap on grinder. i oil it every other week, or when i remember to, nothing crazy. for a fraction of the price of a snap on or equivalent i highly recommend!
