Functional
Overall functional, nut sizes can be iffy. Threads may help with accuracy.

Works well but be careful
I used this to measure my Tractor's wheel bolts and threads when I had problems mounting spacers. It told me and the vendor what we needed to know to send a replacement spacer set. Bolt diameter was accurate but you have to be very careful and look closely at the tread pitch fit. I thought I had it in mm but it turned out the pitch fit even better using the standard side. I would like the thread fitting bumps to be taller and more obvious. Still, it works and is kept handy in my home workshop. I did have one really large nut that the gauge did not have big enough measuring stub but most of the time this tells me what I need to know. Just pay attention to the way things fit it.

Would prefer metal of course but this works well so far.
Without careless use it gives the impression it'll last.

A shop "must have"
I got one of these years ago as a freebie with a subscription--still have it and use it often. I am, however, splitting my workshops--the wood shop will stay down and the metal will go to the garage. This means splitting out some hardware and tools I decided to to get this improved model for the metal shop as I still get new and used hardware in bulk and need to identify it. Also, this is helpful when you need to size a replacement for a broken screw or bolt. You can measure lengths in SAE and MM as well as a pitch guide for threads. Coarse and fine nut/washer posts too. I like this one and it is already on my toolbox in the garage on a magnetic hook. Also from Amazon, I have a second sorting and counting tray that makes putting the loose items back in the container easy. The two together make most hardware jobs much simpler and I recommend both.

Better for metric hardware, but still not good enough for me.
I have a good hardware gauge in my shop, but it lacks smaller metric screw sizes that I find myself using more often these days. So this one seemed like a good addition. Well, it seems nicely made. The molding has a very precise look to it, though I haven't checked it for absolute accuracy. The problem is, while it does indeed have holes for smaller metric screw sizes, it lacks studs for sizing metric nuts. That feature is SAE only. Admittedly, this infor was there in the listing if I'd looked more carefully, but it's still disappointing. If you primarily use SAE hardware though, this is a great and inexpensive addition that every shop should have. It just falls a bit short for metric hardware.

It is easy to use
Like , cos it works fine and it is perfect on the measurements.

Just the ticket for swapping fasteners
Light and easy to use. Not ALL the measurements a person might want, but the most popular ones. Cheaper and easier than a bolt set. Still had to cable it to the parts bin so it doesn't walk off and disappear under a project.

Know the hex screw, get the right nut
The title says everything. What size is it? Look at it and use a thread pitch gage if need be, but don't screw yourself and the job. Get it right, do it right, and take pride in your mechanical repairs and avoid those unnecessary trips for the right fasteners.
